The system is a 1981 Hood SeaFurl. At the top of teh mast, I discovered that the top section of sheath/track, only about 18' long, was MANGLED. The fairlead arm on my Hood Seafurl 2535 (furling genoa) which guides the line back to the drum has snapped. A member of the crew (who shall remain nameless, but is not known for her gentle touch) tried to furl in the genoa using a winch, without looking to see it had snagged. It's the same as, or very similar to, part 8 in the image below. As I see it, I have 3 options, which are in order of preference: 1) Get a new fairlead arm from someone, perhaps you, dear reader, who may have one available. Happy to pay something. Please PM me if you can help. 2) Get the old one welded. It's an alloy of some sort and the local welder took one look and laughed. Any knowledge of the alloy or alloy welders who may be able to help in Scotland would be much appreciated. 3) Fix up some alternative fairlead that would work. Again, if anyone might have knowledge of some such part or system that will guide the line cleanly into the drum, please let me know. At the moment, if I'm not very careful, it tends to get wrapped around the foot of the genoa just above the drum and takes ages to sort out. Seafurl Roller FurlingThank you muchly, Simon Where did it snap - is it drill and bolt'able?? Fantasie - It snapped right in the middle of the arm. Yes, Sailorman, it is T shaped, quite possibly Aluminium. Thanks npf1 and Maxi10 for your help, I'll contact Pompanette and see what they can do, otherwise make up a fairlead from a ring and Dyneema.my seafurl furler suffered a chatastrophic failure on my moody 31 during a blow whereby the foil twisted in one section through 270 degrees. No parts could be sourced so i took the plunge and replaced the system. Fitted a sailspar endless rope system with a new forestay and i have been delighted!
